A Leap into History

Every four years, we witness the phenomenon of Leap Year, granting us an additional day in February. The concept of Leap Year dates to the time of Julius Caesar (100 BC – 44 BC). With the help of the Egyptians, Caesar adjusted the Roman calendar to maintain synchronization with the Earth’s orbit around the sun. This adjustment not only kept the calendar in sync with the solar year, but it also prevented seasonal misalignments and disruptions. So, in essence, as we celebrate Leap Year, we're honoring a tradition that has endured for centuries and continues to shape how we organize our time.

One fascinating aspect about Leap Year is the existence of "Leaplings.” These are the unique Kosmonauts who are born on February 29^th and only have a birthday once every four years. Just kidding! They still age like the rest of us, but they must have their celebration on February 28th or March 1st every year that is not a Leap Year. To all the Leaplings in our community, we wish you an extra special celebration this year filled with out-of-this-world adventures.
